EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants were busy manipulating their defensive depth chart this afternoon before their Monday Night Football appearance against the Chiefs in Kansas City.

Linebackers Trent Harris and Benardrick McKinney were elevated from the practice squad. The Giants also added a pair of defensive backs as Steven Parker was signed off the practice squad and Aaron Robinson was activated off the reserve/physically unable to perform list.

Second-year linebacker Carter Coughlin was placed on injured reserve.

Harris, a third-year pro, will make his 2021 debut if he is in uniform tonight after spending the season's first seven weeks on the practice squad. In his first season with the Giants in 2020, he played in four games with two starts and was credited with 5 tackles (one solo), a half-sack and one quarterback hit. Harris made his Giants debut at Philadelphia on Oct. 22, assisted on two tackles vs. Tampa Bay on Nov. 2 and tallied three (one solo) and shared an right-yard sack of Carson Wentz with Jabrill Peppers vs. the Eagles on Nov. 15.

McKinney had two solo tackles in his Giants and 2021 debut last week in the victory against the Carolina Panthers. He joined the practice squad on Oct. 18 and was elevated to the roster the day before last week's game. McKinney played six seasons for the Houston Texans and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2018.

Parker, 6-1 and 210 pounds, would also make his first appearance in a Giants uniform. He was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 21, released on Oct. 5 and re-signed the next day. In his first two NFL seasons, played in 14 games with four starts for Miami in 2019 and appeared in eight games with Dallas in 2020. Parker has 24 tackles (17 solo) and two interceptions.

Robinson, the Giants' 2021 third-round draft choice, has been on the PUP list since training camp began and will make his NFL debut if he plays. The 6-1, 193-pounder had a core muscle injury that required surgery. Coach Joe Judge is excited to see what Robinson can do in a game.

"He's got real good top-end speed," Judge said last week. "He's got very good short-area quickness. He has good instincts in terms of matching receivers. He has very good ball skills. He's got a physical presence to him. That's one of the things that really jumped out to us when we looked at this guy through college tape and down in Mobile (at the Senior Bowl).

"He's a physical corner, he really is. Physicality comes into how you tackle but then also how you can play on the line of scrimmage with hands and really go ahead and be disruptive. He does a good job of that. He's one of those guys when you watch him from across the ball, he doesn't blink much pre-snap. He's always looking into it, he's anticipating moves. Physically, this guy's got a pretty good skillset."

Carter is sidelined with an ankle injury. He must sit out a minimum of three games and will be eligible to return on Nov. 28 against Philadelphia.
